Jade continues to work her way up the Great Britain and world rankings.

TATTERSHALL tennis star Jade Windley has moved up the British ranking to number nine seed, after a successful tournament at Wrexham.

In the first round of the £25,000 challenger, she beat Kysenia Lykina, a former top 200 player in the world from Russia.

Jade said: “The last time I played her I lost easily, so was glad to get revenge this time around. I won 2/6, 6/0, 6/2.”

In the second round, she lost out to seeded player Sarah Gronert from Germany who is ranked 290 in the world.

The score was 3/6, 6/3, 6/4.

Gronert eventually won the whole tournament.

In the doubles event, Jade won the whole tournament with Anna Fitzpatrick.

She said: “This is my first challenger title, so I am very happy. We came through the first two rounds relatively comfortably against good opponents.

“In the semi final we faced the number two seeds from Russia, Lykina and Sirotkna.

“Anna and I came through 7/6, 7/5 after playing some great doubles. In the final we faced top seeds Mel South (top five GB) and Alenka Wienerova. We played the best doubles of the tournament to win 6/2, 4/6, 10/3 third set tiebreak.

This win has boosted Jade’s doubles ranking into the 300s on the world ranking list, and to number nine seed in Great Britain.

Her singles ranking is almost back inside the top 600 in the world, and is now at number 15 for GB women.

Jade added: “I hope do well next week at Chiswick where I am playing in a £10,000 event.”
