LINCS ECB: Mother Nature hampers opening day of the season

For newly-promoted Boston, this means a tough opener at home to current champions Bracebridge Heath, while fellow newcomers Nettleham travel the short distance to Lindum, whose Australian wicketkeeper Bradley Mitchell is raring to go.

Spin is likely to dominate at St Giles Avenue this season as former Market Rasen captain Matt Rutherford - last season’s top ECB League wicket taker - joins Jonny Miller in the Lindum attack.

Skegness have signed an under 18 South African Dylan Labuschagne and are expecting their overseas player Ray Jordan to arrive in time for their match at home to Woodhall Spa.

Woodhall also have an under 18 player from South Africa, Jean-Pierre Prinsloo, and will be hoping that Sri Lankan international Prasanna Jayawardene will make his return to the club this week.

Yet another import from South Africa is Sleaford’s Obus Pienaar who will be action when his side host Louth.

The away team will be introducing their Australian signing Keaton Critchell.

Two sides without overseas players as yet this season are Bourne and Grantham, who meet at Abbey Lawn.

Grantham are now captained by Lincolnshire batsman Dan Freeman and have also signed the up-and-coming James Keast from Cleethorpes.

Australian Zac Simmonds will be making the long journey to Grimsby as part of the Market Deeping team which will also include former Northants ECB Premier League player Dan Bendon.
