Woodhall Spa stepped up their bid for the Division One title in the Lincoln and District League last Sunday with a crushing victory against Scothern.

Excellent batting saw Woodhall pile up a formidable 244-8 off their 40 overs with Sam Evison (80) top scoring.

Scothern never looked like staging a successful challenge and collapsed to 108 all out with six different bowlers sharing the wickets.

Apart from Evison, skipper Matt Sargeant (43) - fresh from his double century the previous week - was also among the runs.

Ben McCarrick (40) and Jack Timby (36) joined in the fun as Woodhall rattled along at around six runs an over.

Scothern did start their reply in determined style, but the run out of captain James Dribble dealt them a blow.

Lewis Holmes, Paul Timby, Sargeant, Jack Hughes, Richard Evison and Paul Holmes were all among the wickets.

Evison was the pick, taking 3-14 off five overs while Holmes snapped up 2-8.
