Woodhall Spa made a solid start with openers Etienna Botha and Henry Wilson notching 40 and 30 respectively, before they both fell to striker bowler Stuart Silk, Wilson going lbw.

Adam Barker (5) fell cheaply to the bowling of Paul Chambers, but Hugo Finley shored things up with 33 runs before he was bowled out by Russell Moore. Chambers bowled Sam Cherry for 19.

The innings was well and truly stabilised by the 55 runs of top scorer Alex King before he fell to the bowling of Martin Noble. Spa skipper Peter Epton (5) was caught and bowled by Chambers.

Alex Wilson added 14 runs and gave Silk his third wicket, caught by Noble who also bowled out John Temperton for a duck.

Luke Ware (0no) and Jack Luffman (6no) saw out Woodhall’s 40 overs.

Captain Martin Noble (13) led the Rustons innings, caught by Barker off a Wilson delivery. Fellow opener Moore was bowled out for 14 by Botha.

Ware bowled Chambers for a duck and also took the wicket of Robert Spaight, caught by Epton.

Rustons’ middle order tightened things up, with Silk unbeaten on 35 and Tennyson Ponraj top scoring with 41 before he was stumped by Barker off an Epton ball. The same pair combined again to take the wicket of Subash Chellaiah (3).

Rustons ran out of overs on 148, with Lee Buick (1no) the only further contributor.
