Woodhall Spa have set their sights on a dazzling double success this weekend - in league and cup action.
Skipper Jack Luffman and his players are gearing up for what could be one of the most crucial stages of the campaign.
Tomorrow (Saturday) they entertain Spalding at Jubilee Park in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.
On Sunday, they travel to South Yorkshire to represent the league in the Area Finals of the ECB’s Twenty20 Club Championship.
They will face the champions of three Yorkshire-based leagues in the battle for a place in the next stage of the event.
Luffman said: “It’s a big weekend and the lads are really looking forward to it.
“It will be interesting competing in the two different formats and hopefully we will do well.”
Woodhall will be aiming to take maximum points against mid-table Spalding and keep the pressure on current leaders and title favourites Bourne.
While Woodhall were involved in a thrilling tie against Bracebridge Heath last Saturday, Bourne defeated Skegness to strengthen their grip on top spot.
Luffman is not taking anything for granted against Spalding. He said: “They are a decent side and they’ve tended to score lots of runs this season.
“In some ways, we were unfortunate not to win last Saturday but we’ll take that tie and just try and wins as many games as we can between now and the end of the season.”
Woodhall should be at full strength tomorrow with openers Sam Evison and Jonny Cheer back from county duty.
The duo will be key figures on Sunday for the Twenty20 competition with Woodhall taking a 13-man squad.
The action is being held at Elsecar CC near Barnsley with Woodhall facing Sheffield Collegiate, winners of the Yorkshire League event.
The winners of that tie will then play either Morley, representing the Bradford League, or Hall from the South Yorkshire League.
Woodhall’s first match is due to start around 1pm with the final scheduled for 4pm.
