Home side Woodhall Spa 2nd XI won the toss and elected to field at Jubilee Park on Saturday.

Spa got off to a good start, with bowler Jack Cooke taking out the opening pair. Captain Phil Barnes registered a single run before he was caught by Nick Bishop. Chris Booth made just two runs more and then went the same way to Tom Luffman.

Rob Bee was the bowler of the next two wickets. James Wright was caught by Lewis Holmes for 11 and Jamie Taylor (29) went lbw.

Luffman caught Matt Bull for a duck off a Bishop delivery, whilst Luke Lovegrove was bowled by Matthew Haslam for 20. Andrew Wright doubled that tally before he was caught by Luffman off another Haslam ball.

Wicket keeper Luffman than caught Sutton keeper Daniel Oldfield (11), giving Cooke his third wicket.

Haslam claimed his second of three wickets, bowling Barry Stanway for three, the third and final one being that of Jake Burton (1) who was caught by Bishop.

Woodhall’s innings also got off to an inauspicious start, with captain Bishop caught for six and fellow opener Nitin Joachim (9) going the same way. Bee only hit a single run before he, too, was caught.

The Spa innings was rescued by Christopher Anderson who remained unbeaten on 67.

Henry Wilson could only provide two runs before he was caught, but Luffman (28) saved the day and remained at the crease with Anderson till the target was reached in 23 overs.
