CRICKET: Woodhall Spa ready for another tough test in ECB title battle

Woodhall Spa will be looking to continue their winning ways in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League tomorrow (Saturday) when they visit rivals Bracebridge Heath in another crunch contest.

Skipper Jack Luffman was delighted with his side’s performance in a much-needed win against champions Sleaford at Jubilee Park last Saturday.

With leaders Bourne crashing to a surprise defeat against Spalding, the race for the title is wide open again.

However, Woodhall - currently in fifth place - face another daunting challenge against third placed Bracebridge.

Luffman admitted: “They are a top class side and are usually there or thereabouts when it comes to winning trophies.

“We’ve been really pleased with our own form in the last couple of games and all we can do is look to keep that going.”

Woodhall should be at near full strength tomorrow with all rounder Matthew Sargeant set to play, despite a recent back problem.

There are doubts about whether he will be fit enough to bowl with the in-form Ben O’Brien and Connor Parsons set to spearhead the attack.

Overseas star Malinga Bandara has become an increasingly influential figure in recent games along with prolific batsmen Jonny Cheer and Sam Evison.

Evison hit a century against Sleaford and followed up with another impressive innings in the midweek game against Lashings.

*Woodhall Spa seconds will be looking to make the most of home advantage tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain top-of-the-table Boston in Division One of the South Lincs and Border League.
