Woodhall Spa skipper Jack Luffman will be hoping his side can bounce back to winning ways tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Lindum in a Lincolnshire ECB Premier League game at Jubilee Park.
It’s been a frustrating last couple of weeks for Luffman and his players after a surprise setback at home to Market Deeping was followed by a complete wash-out at Skegness last Saturday.
Luffman and the likes of Ben O’Brien have a least managed some match action in Woodhall’s Sunday teams but the big test will come against Lindum.
Luffman said: “We’re really looking forward to the game and we need a win. We know it won’t be easy because Lindum are a dangerous side. We’ll have to be at our best.”
All rounder Matthew Sargeant should return to action after his recent lay-off and he proved his fitness with some impressive bowling in Lincolnshire’s Minor Counties clash against Staffordshire earlier this week.
Sargeant’s Lincolnshire teammate Jonny Cheer will be another key figure - particularly after his unbeaten half century in that Staffordshire game,
Overseas star Malinga Bandara - fresh from helping Sri Lanka’s preparations for the First Test - will also be aiming to strike top form.
Woodhall, though, will be without opening batsman Sam Evison who is in Africa as part of his University studies while pace bowler Connor Parsons is still struggling with a hamstring problem that has kept him on the sidelines for several games.
Nottinghamshire star Andy Carter’s impressive County Championship form means he is still to make an appearance for Woodhall.
*Woodhall’s second team are also in action tomorrow when they visdit Lindum Ramblers in the Premier Division of the South Lincs and Border League.
