Woodhall Spa Cricket Club will be aiming to round off their Lincolnshire ECB Premier League campaign on a winning note tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Billingborough at Jubilee Park.
A win against struggling Grimsby last Saturday put a smile back on the face of skipper Jack Luffman after two successive defeats had dashed his side’s hopes of the challenging for the title.
Overseas’ star Malinga Bandara was the star of the show, taking 5-68 and then hitting an impressive 63 in a seven wicket success.
It’s understood Bandara will be returning to Jubilee Park next season and the former Sri Lankan Test ace will be a key figure against Billingborough.
Woodhall could still finish in the top four to crown another impressive campaign but will have to be on their guard against Billingborough who need the points themselves to avoid finishing rock bottom.
With several established players doubtful, Woodhall could again turn to some of their younger talent to back up the likes of Sam Evison, Jonny Cheer and Matthew Sargeant.
*Woodhall Spa’s second team play their final game of the season in the Premier Division of the South Lincs and Border League tomorrow at Long Sutton.
Woodhall go into the game in the bottom four but victory could see them move up several places in the table.
