Key all-rounder Matthew Sargeant will be missing from Woodhall Spa’s side as they look to bounce back to winning ways in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League at home to Grimsby tomorrow (Saturday).
The Lincolnshire star is unavailable for the contest as Woodhall aim to get back into the title race after a couple of recent setbacks.
They will start as strong favourites against struggling Grimby who are next-to-bottom of the league table.
However, skipper Jack Luffman is taking nothing for granted and admitted he is looking for a much improved batting display.
Woodhall, chasing a target of 217 against Lindum last Saturday, were restricted to a disappointing 154-8 in reply, Sargeant (45) top scoring.
Luffman said: “We’re not performing well enough as a batting unit but I’m confident we can turn things around.”
Regular opener Sam Evison is still missing from the top of the order as he is doing voluntary work in Africa.
All eyes will be on the likes of Luffman and Ricky Lovelace who have struggled to put big scores together.
Pace bowler Connor Parsons is still sidelined with an injury and Nottinghamshire seamer Andy Carter has yet to make his first appearance for the club because of county commitments.
*Woodhall’s second team are in action tomorrow when they travel to Skegness in the Premier Division of the South Lincs and Border League.
*Woodhall started their defence of the Albion Cup - a midweek knock out competition - with a crushing ten wicket victory against Old Lincolnians who were bowled out for 43.
