Newly promoted Revesby made a positive start to life in Division One of the Lincoln League with an impressive result at Boston Seconds last Saturday.
Batting first, Revesby made a formidable 211-5 and they restricted Boston to 155-5 in reply to take the points.
The match winners for Revesby were sixth wicket pair G Lane and W Laird who pulled the inning around with an unbroken stand of 120.
Revesby went into the clash full of confidence following a successful end to the friendly campaign at Sleaford.
The team enjoyed a sound victory, built around a notable innings of 98 not out from R. Knight.
Unluckily, Knight didn’t last long at Boston. Opening the innings, he was run out without facing a ball.
R Jeffery came to the crease and after hitting a first ball boundary, he was caught at square leg having faced just three deliveries. That left the score on a rather precarious looking 9 – 2.
M Twells and I Roberts steadied the ship and took the score to 82 when Twells was caught and bowled for 37.
Two further quick wickets fell and a score of 91-5 led to some anxious facesin the Revesby dressing room.
However, Lane and Laird batted with a mixture of aggression and good running, sharing a superb sixth wicket stand.
Lane was unbeaten on 66 from just 41 balls and Laird was unbeaten on 47.
Boston required five runs an over but were restrained by tight bowling from J Ingamells, J Lewis and L Stedman.
D Hunt and M Ridding picked up two wickets apiece and although the home side looked to attack, they could only muster and lower the increasing run rate, but they could only muster 155-5 - 56 runs short of their target.
Revesby will be looking to build on the performance wbhen they entertain Heighington on Saturday (wp: 2pm).
