Batsman Ricky Lovelace will be hoping to celebrate his return to Woodhall Spa with an impressive performance in a pre-season friendly at Hartsholme on Saturday.

Lovelace was a prolific run scorer for the Jubilee Park side but left to join ECB Lincolnshire Premier League rivals Skegness.

However, he has returned to Woodhall and will add to the competition for places ahead of the new league campaign which starts on April 19.

Woodhall will face rivals Hartsholme without two key players in opening batsman Jonny Cheer and overseas’ star Prasanna Jayawardene.

Cheer has been playing in Australian club cricket while Jaywardene has been ‘guesting’ for the MCC in the Middle East.

Jaywardene has also been picked for the Sri Lanka tour of England in May and June, raising doubts about his availability for Woodhall.

Skipper Jack Luffman and coach Paul Timby will be keen to check on the form of several first team contenders as Woodhall look to stage another strong challenge for the league title.
