Lincs ECB Premier League
Woodhall Spa 267-7
Market Deeping 163-9
League leaders Woodhall Spa lost the toss and were asked to bat first at Outgang Road.
A solid innings saw all but one of Spa’s nine batsmen reach double figures, with Sam Evison leading the way and joint top-scoring with Etienne Botha on 54 before he went lbw. Woodhall captain and fellow opener Jack Luffman was caught whilst on 28.
Malinga Bandara made one run less before he too was caught, as were Ricky Lovelace (20), Botha and Matthew Sargeant (22). Joe Irving was stumped for eight runs.
Seeing the Woodhall innings and their 50 overs out were Thomas Dixon (12no) and Connor Parsons (11).
Market Deeping also started promisingly before a middle order collapse took a lump out of their possible total.
Chris Jones was bowled for 35 runs by Botha and fellow opener Alex Wheatley made just nine before he was caught by Parsons off an Irving delivery.
Deeping’s top scorer was Ajaz Akhtar who reached 45 before he fell to the bowling of Bandara., However, Emile Kriek only managed a single run before he went lbw to Bandara
David Sargeant was caught for a duck off another Bandara delivery, whilst Thomas Andrews was caught and bowled by Botha, also for duck.
Bandara’s fourth wicket of the day saw him dismiss Ali Sharp lbw for three runs.
The Deeping tail-end made something of a comeback, but it was too little too late.
Lovelace caught Mehul Adatia for 12, giving Bandara his fifth scalp, whilst Irving clean bowled Patrick Brown for 11.
Remaining at the crease till the bitter end were Deeping skipper David Gillett (27no) and Lee Peacock (0no).
