A great performance by Horncastle’s bowlers was let down by some sub-standard batting as Town’s 1st XI lost by just four runs to Outcasts 1st XI.

Outcasts won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Andrew Lawson made 18 runs before he was dismissed. Outcasts batting line-up then looked to capitulate has they crashed to 39-5. Only Graham Clark offered any resistance, hitting 44 as Outcasts were removed for just 86 runs in 27 overs. Haary Smith and Brody Willerton picked up three wickets each, Paul Wood taking the other two and Harry Smith running out the final batsman.

A victory looked on the cards for Town, but wickets fell at regular intervals and at 37-6 Horncastle looked to be heading home frustrated.

Richard Dixon and Jim Watters added some stability hitting 20 and 10 respectively to move the scoreboard on, but it was not enough as Horncastle were bowled out for 82, just four runs short of victory.
