Horncastle Cricket Club skipper Nick Paige will be hoping his side can carry their impressive pre-season form into the start of their league campaign tomorrow (Saturday).

Paige and his teammates open their Division One fixtures in the Lincolnshire County League with a home game against Haxey Seconds at Coronation Walk (1pm).

Horncastle boosted their confidence with an impressive warm-up win against Alford last weekend.

Batting first. Horncastle’s total topped 200 while excellent bowling - backed up by fine fielding - restricted Alford to 120.

Paige said: “The players have worked hard in the winter nets and are keen to get back into league action.”

Horncastle will be relying on a largely young squad this term after the retirement of a couple of their more experienced players.
