Horncastle Cricket Club skipper Nick Paige is preparing for one of the toughest tests of the season tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain Lincolnshire County League Division One leaders Scothern at Coronation Walk.

While Scothern are setting the pace in the race for promotion, Paige and his young squad are struggling in next-to-bottom place.

They are 17 points ahead of Haxey seconds who prop up the rest of the division - and also have two games in hand.

Paige, though, would love to see his shock Scothern who have won ten of their 14 games this season.

Horncastle will have top step up on their recent faltering form which resulted in a six wicket defeat against Cleethorpes last Saturday.

The efforts of all rounder Harry Smith hace been one of the few highlights for Horncastle in recent weeks but he needs support from his teammates.

*Horncastle’s Sunday team don’t have a fixture in this weekend’s latest round of action in the Chattertons McKinnells League.
