Once again players and supporters of Horncastle Cricket Club turned out in force at the weekend to help prepare the Coronation Walk Ground for the coming season, all part of the NatWest Cricketforce Day.

Along with re-erecting the sightscreens and tidying the nets and scorebox, a fence has been built between the pavilion and tennis courts, to act as a windbreak for the club’s loyal band of supporters.

Club Chairman Dean Wilkinson was delighted with the number of volunteers that turned up to help.

He said: “It was great to see so many players and supporters down at the ground – particularly from our junior section.

“With the league season only a fortnight away, the ground is looking immaculate and everyone is keen to get started.”

Winner of the Grand National Sweepstake was Mo Wilkinson, with Johnnie Clark taking second place, Shirley Wilkinson third and vice-captain Joe Smith fourth spot.
