Last Wednesday marked the start of the inaugural Horncastle Midweek Cricket 8s, with The Bull taking on Harpars at Horncastle Cricket Club’s Coronation Walk ground.

It was a fantastic start to the tournament in which matches are to be played every Wednesday evening. The Bull scored a fantastic 166 from their 16 overs, with Nick Paige striking some telling blows, one clearing the Astro Bar!

Harpars’ reply was steady and consistent. They kept themselves in the game with some fine stroke play from Jake Fixter and Lewis Lovegrove. The game went down to the last over with Harpars still needing 16 to win. The victory was sealed with a big six through the Orange Zone, doubling it to 12 and Harpars were over the line to go top of the league.

Tonight, The Bull will be looking to bounce back as they take on The Squash Club. The game will again take place at Horncastle Cricket Club, starting at 6.30pm. The bar will be open and there will be a barbecue. Spectators are welcome to pop along and enjoy the excellent entertainment.
