A young Woodhall Spa side narrowly missed out on victory in a closely fought Lincoln League Division Three game at Old Lincolnians on Sunday.
A superb bowling performance, led by Jack Cooke’s 4-31, restricted Old Lincolnians to 139 all out.
Woodhall Spa also struggled for runs with the promising Jack Timby among the early casualties but a brave 23 from skipper Peter Elvin raised their hopes.
At 75-6, Woodhall Spa were still outsiders but Simon Caswell and wicketkeeper George Lindsay dragged them back into the contention.
They took the board to 105 but Caswell went and Lindsay couldn’t see his side home as he fell for 24.
Woodhall Spa were eventually all out for 115, 24 runs short of their target with Andy Fletcher taking three important late wickets for the victors.
The result was rough on Cooke who bowled tremendously well and received excellent support from Jackson Draper (3-41) and Tom Caswell (2-30).
