With the new cricket season only three months away, Lincolnshire Cricket Groundsmen’s Association begins the year with a visit from one of the county’s leading cricket suppliers.
Cristian Durant, Managing Director of the Association’s sponsors Durant Cricket and himself a county cricketer, visits Lindum Cricket Club in Lincoln on February 4.
Durant Cricket supplies a wide range of products, including artificial surfaces and cricket nets.
At the meeting, Cristian will be focusing on his work with grant funding companies in helping clubs source finance for equipment.
In addition, County Pitch Advisor Martin Deans will be revealing details of the groundsman training courses that have been made possible by a £10,000 grant that the CGA received from Sport England last autumn.
Plans are under way for two day courses in the north and the south of the county in early spring, followed by post-season autumn course – these will be free to all those who have paid their £10 annual membership to the CGA.
The objective is to further develop the groundsman’s professional aptitude in pitch preparation and care and delegates who successfully complete the courses will be awarded with an internationally recognised certificate.
Thanks to the grant, the CGA has also acquired a second spiker and information on its location and availability to clubs will be given at the meeting which begins at 7.30pm and is open to anyone interested in ground preparation and maintenance.
