Mens A team earn promotion with 9-0 win

With Horncastle Mens A team on 23 points and Spalding on 25 points, there was a lot riding on the last match of the season.
The division two title rested on whether Horncastle Mens B team could pull off a shock victory against the A team.
The two teams assembled last Monday night and put 100 per cent into this vital match despite end of season injuries.
John Russon and Mike Fricke got off to a good start in a close match with Nick Jones and Neil Lancaster.
Richard Giles and Chris Chamberlain overcame Richard Parker and Pete Welch.
The third game saw Dave Russon and Wayne Radley defeat Chris Shaw and Matt Dossett fairly easily and after that the A team became dominant while points were hard to come by for the B team.
In the end the A team won 9-0 to gain the vital point to win the division and earn promotion next season.
