LETTER: Open letter from Horncastle Town FC

An open letter to the residents of Horncastle from Horncastle Town Football Club.

As the dust has settled on the opening of our fantastic new clubhouse facility we have composed this open letter to thank the people of Horncastle.

The support you have given us, from inception, during the build and since its opening, through your positive comments and participation in fundraising initiatives (such as the buy-a-brick campaign and the clubhouse opening raffle) have shown Horncastle’s desire and commitment to improve the standard of facility we operate from.

It has always been our aim to bring football to as many people as we could possibly reach and in some ways the old facility held us back from doing that.

We now feel there is a much more inclusive, welcoming and open environment in which to come and spend time watching local sport and in these early stages it is wonderful to see people coming in and enjoying what the club has to offer.

It is a very humbling experience when many people come together behind a common goal and this was no exception.

The vast majority of the people we spoke to saw there was a need to improve the facility and backed our desire to bring it to fruition. If you have made a visit to The Wong and seen the new clubhouse you will likely have seen the wall of supporters and businesses bricks giving an indication of the tremendous backing you have given us.

These bricks are still available to buy to cement your name in the new clubhouse and details are available on request at the facility. If you haven’t yet seen the facility please come along and visit us on a weekend and we can show you around the building.

The opening weekend showcased everything that is good about not only the football club but also Horncastle in general as people showed their support once more to come and see us on the Sunday and Monday.

We feel we must acknowledge the amount of volunteers who have helped us run various parts of the club on the opening days and also since then.

They have made sure everyone who visits is looked after brilliantly and without these people Horncastle Town Football Club simply couldn’t function at the level we are doing. We are still looking for more volunteers to help with the running of the facility so if you feel that you could get involved then please come along and make it known that you would like to help and be involved.

It is our intention to hire the facility out, when available, for functions providing it isn’t being used or the function doesn’t interfere with the buildings core use of a football clubhouse, details will soon be released on the format this will take and will be made available on the website and social media pages.

All that remains to be said is that we are so grateful to the people of Horncastle who turn out in their numbers to support us and give us their backing, in any form. We will endeavour to ensure we keep getting the level of support we are currently honoured to receive. Thank you Horncastle.
