LETTER: New village hall is too much of a commitment

It is with interest that I read your article in last week’s Horncastle News, it reads that there is to be an expected funding shortfall of some £250,000, it then says there is the chance of extra funding from the sale of the existing site,

I wonder if it is possible to find out from the relevant body who actually owns the site?

In a further statement the chairman, a Mr G Beacham admits that the present hall is “RATHER DILAPIDATED”,

If this is the case, how, with such a high financial commitment, does he believe that they could ever cope with the costs of running this replacement would the monies spent on buying the new site with the associated costs of full planning permission not have therefore been better spent on the existing building?
