LETTER: I am the only one concerned about Woodhall Spa’s 1940s Festival celebrating death and destruction?

I am wondering if I am the only resident of Woodhall Spa who is very concerned about the Woodhall Spa World War 2 Festival, erroneously named ‘Woodhall Spa Forties Weekend’?

Why not celebrate Forties music, films, fashion and glamour instead - and don’t forget the NHS!

By all means commemorate war by acts of sad remembrance, but do not have a jolly good time celebrating death and destruction.

Nostalgia of this kind runs the very real risk of normalising war, making the possibility of further conflicts more likely in people’s minds.

Worried resident (for

25 years) of Woodhall

Spa.
