I wanted to respond to your recent article about Horncastle being boring.
I used to live in the town and that’s what people said 60 years ago. Interestingly, it has a bigger population today, so it must work for some people.
Every place has its soul and, like people, all are different.
I have lived for most of my adult life in Johannesburg – a huge city full of contrasts.
Immense wealth can often appear side-to-side with appalling squatter camps. Hi-tech magnificent skyscrapers, but streets often littered with rubbish and spoiled by crumbling infrastructure.
It is chalk and cheese from Horncastle; I love both.
Be proud of your history and heritage, the changes will happen – they always do.
At the end of the day,
it’s the community that counts.
