Budding dancers aged between 11 and 17 years old are being urged to audition for the chance to be part of one of Lincolnshire’s up and coming dance companies.
On Monday January 6, Lincolnshire Youth Dance Company will host an audition open to dancers of mixed ability, from 6.30pm until 8pm at Lincoln College Studios.
Lincolnshire Youth Dance Company, launched in September 2013, has been created to nurture and support talented young people who have an interest in dance and are living or attending school in Lincolnshire.
International dance organisation, Dance4, is working to develop the company’s initiative in partnership with Lincoln Drill Hall Theatre and in association with Lincoln College.
Paul Russ, chief executive at Dance4, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young dancers to join a developing dance company which offers teenagers a chance to fulfil their potential as professional dance artists.
“We are actively encouraging young dancers to attend the audition who may have a range of abilities – we are interested in seeing experienced dancers as well as young people with potential.”
If chosen, successful participants can expect to attend weekly technique and creative classes as well as the opportunity to be involved in performances where they will perform at professional venues in front of large audiences.
“The company’s main aim is to train young dancers in contemporary dance, enabling them to work creatively and to experience what it’s like to perform to audiences,” added Paul.
