A man has been taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital for treatment after a van left a road near Horncastle earlier today (Monday).

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the incident on the B1183, close to the Scrivelsby Estate deer park.

A Peugeot Partner van, apparently used by a decorator, had left the road and hit a tree.

Crews had to cut the driver from the vehicle.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance but police say his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

The identity of the driver has not been released.

The road, a busy route between Horncastle and Boston, was re-opened after paint from the vehicle was cleaned up.

Local bus routes were affected but the service was expected to return to normal.
