The man who was killed in the collision in The Bull Ring, Horncastle, yesterday has been named as 55-year-old Steve Vamplew, of Prospect Street.

He leaves behind his wife Lynne and daughter Alice.

Steve worked as a cleaner at a number of businesses in the town including the Horncastle News.

Editor of the Horncastle News Paul Fisher said: “Steve’s death has been a shock to all of us at the News.

“Steve was a friend to all at the News for several years and will be greatly missed. We often shared a joke and discussed the headlines when working late and one of the team had only spoken with him that morning.

“We wanted to wait until we had spoken to his wife Lynne before we released his name. If the past 24 hours have been difficult for me and my team I cannot imagine what it has been like for Lynne and Alice, there are simply no words.”

Steve was airlifted to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham but died from his injuries shortly after arriving.
