Contractors finished roadworks in Horncastle Town Centre on schedule - despite some appalling weather last week.
The work involved re-surfacing the main A153 from the Bull Ring northwards towards the junction with Conging Street.
All the work was completed overnight to keep delays to a minimum.
Several residents contacted the News to claim the road was not in urgent need of repairing. They also questioned why the work wasn’t carried out as part of improvements to gas mains in the area earlier this year.
Lincolnshire County Council defended the work and said the road would not need re-surfacing for a number of years.
