A much loved feature of the Horncastle winter skyline is the light display on St Mary’s Church tower and spire.
Every year, a dedicated band of hardy souls climbs the tower to install the 150-plus low energy light bulbs.
The volunteers usually hope for reasonable weather, although a strong wind and an icy roof can make the job quite a challenge.
Still, the rewards are evident - with some of the best views in town.
