Poorly children at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital received some early Christmas cheer thanks to kind-hearted personnel at RAF Coningsby.

Corporal Colin McLoughlin from 29(R) Squadron arranged another successful Christmas present collection to provide gifts for ill children in the Paediatrics ward.

Father Christmas and his helper were delighted to receive the presents.

Colin explained why he was keen to make sure this project went ahead this year.

“My youngest sister spent her first two Christmases in hospital. She didn’t get anything like this, so I thought if I had an opportunity to cheer up a few poorly children then I should help out.”

Corporal McLoughlin approached the Royal Air Force Coningsby Station Charities Committee earlier in the year and they donated £250 for him to purchase Christmas gifts.

“I bought a wide array of boys’ and girls’ presents, and also included painting and drawing sets and board games,” added Colin.

Aircrew from 29(R) Squadron helped to give out the presents, along with Wing Commander Keri Spencer Thomas, Officer Commanding Base Support Wing and head of the RAF Coningsby Station Charities Committee.
