Retiring vicar the Rev Cheryl Hilliam, from the South Ormsby Group of Parishes, has had her head shaved in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice.

Cheryl, who retires next year after 17 years, raised £1,500 before the head shave took place, and the sports hall at the Edward Richardson School was full of supporters on Sunday.

Cheryl said: “As you can imagine, I minister to several individuals, young and old, and their families affected and afflicted by terrible illness. These people have no choice about so many things which happen to them including losing their hair. Their bravery and faith never fails to move me and I want to give something back, hence the head shave.”
