Horncastle-based councillor Bill Aron has reflected on his year as chairman of Lincolnshire County Council and admitted it has been packed with memorable events.
Coun Aron took over last May and together with his partner Amanda Job, he has attended more than 150 functions.
He said: “These functions have allowed us to meet many people from across the whole of Lincolnshire and beyond.
“One of our first duties was hosting the County Council stand at the Lincolnshire Show.
“Other memorable occasions were meeting and greeting HRH the Princess Royal.
“We also welcomed the Canadian aircrew when they arrived at RAF Coningsby in their Lancaster bomber.
“We hosted an open day at the Horncastle Business Hub, demonstrating 3D hi-tec equipment that will help small businesses.”
Coun Aron said another highlight was being allowed a sneak preview of Lincoln Castle after a £22m revamp which includes a new display for the Magna Carta.
During his tenure, Coun Aron has also raised more than £2,600 for LIVES, including £1,500 after he completed the Lincoln Fun Run.
