The day saw a large number of enthusiastic children suitably dressed for the occasion enjoying the ever popular face painting, getting a temporary tattoo, exploring the keep on a children’s trail looking for body parts and getting creative with some craft activities.

This year Jack Greene, the mad professor, moved his laboratory into the basement of the castle. He delighted a captive audience with some spectacular experiments ending in all manner of bangs, flashes and smells.

The highlight of the day was the Fancy Dress competition which saw a huge entry with the judges having a near impossible task in finding a winner but suffice to say all the entrants looked fantastic.

The ghost walks were once again sold out as the brave individuals ventured into the castle in the dark being told spooky stories from the Castle’s past and unexplained events that the staff have witnessed.

The next event at the Castle is the annual Christmas Market, on Saturday November 15 and Sunday 16. There is free entry to all visitors that weekend.
