An award winning holiday business near Horncastle has won another national accolade, this time from members of Caravan Club.
Greetham Retreat has been awarded first-place in The Caravan Club’s Certificated Location of the Year awards for 2013.
The Caravan Club’s one million members were entitled to vote and the presentation took placed at the House of Commons.
Greetham Retreat owners Rob and Jeanette Folwell received their award from Gordon Marsden MP, Shadow Minister for Transport.
Certificated Locations are privately-owned, maximum five-van sites found across the United Kingdom.
Set in four acres of tranquil grounds with wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows and woodland, Greetham Retreat opened in 2011 following Mr Folwell’s retirement from the police force.
The couple moved to the Horncastle area and built the certified location site themselves during the autumn of 2010, planting some 650 trees.
It now has hard standing pitches and one alternative grass pitch and includes a Club standard service point, heated shower and WC room.
In addition, the site also has self-catering accommodation which enables Caravan Club members to take holidays with friends or relatives who may not have a caravan or motorhome themselves.
Mrs Folwell’s background in customer services with Leicestershire Police and the National Farmers Union (NFU) ensures guests receive a personal welcome, highlighting local facilities and places to enjoy.
The couple said: ““We are so proud and amazed at the generosity of Caravan Club members who have visited us. This award really means so much,to us both.
“We both very much enjoy seeing our guests relaxing, enjoying our CL and exploring the area.
“One of the reasons we decided upon this venture was due to Rob’s retirement from the police.
“Wanting to do something creative, Rob’s attention to detail and tenacity led us to create something that has far exceeded our expectations.””
The couple have won several other awards and offer some of the highest rated accommodation locally on Trip Advisor.
