Margaret Coe shares a piece of her wedding day with residents at Tanglewood Care Home

A CARE Team Leader
delighted residents at
Tanglewood Care Home after calling in wearing her
wedding dress.

Margaret Coe - now Mrs Margaret Harrison - has 10-years service at Tanglewood, and had shared so much of the build-up to her big day with the residents that she didn’t want them to miss out on the special occassion.

Residents had heard about her splendid dress and Margaret made sure everyone got to see the gown in person and in detail.

Margaret called in at the home a few days after her marriage at Horncastle Registry Office.

She changed into her wedding dress in one of the resident’s self-contained bungalows.

During a tour of the entire home she posed for photographs in resident’s rooms, the communal lounges and dining rooms.

Margaret said: “I had talked to the residents about my wedding so much I felt they would feel they had missed out if they did not see me in my dress.

“It was lovely just to see the residents’ eyes light up when they saw it.

“So many of our residents made their own wedding dresses and they really appreciated all the intricate work involved and the beading and detail.

“I think it took a lot of our reesidents back to memories of their own wedding days.”

She also said she would have called in on the wedding day itself, but the time scale on the day didn’t give her the opportunity.

“One resident in particular was quite emotional about seeing the dress,” she added. “They helped hold the train as I went around the rooms.”

Cherry Wilkinson, lifestyle assistant at Tanglewood, said: “Margaret’s kindness in sharing her day with everyone was typical of her.

“She is a real ray of light at work and brings joy and laughter wherever she goes.”

Margaret was given away by her mother Christine, and her sister Ruth was a witness at the wedding.

She and husband Ken live in Toynton St Peter where her husband works as a farmer.
