The fight goes on - that was the message from campaigner Dick Fowler who is one of the leading figures in a county-wide campaign to halt further cuts to bus services.

Lincolnshire County Council announced earlier this year that as part of its budget proposals, it wanted to cut around £2.2m from its transport budget.

That left the threat of the axe hanging over around 170 routes, including many in rural areas.

Almost 5,000 people signed a petition against the cuts and Mr Fowler helped secure 1,000 of those signatures in the Wolds area.

The opposition led to Whitehall handing Lincolnshire an extra £7.7m - and meant a reprieve for many routes. But, as Mr Fowler points out, some routes were lost and he fears others will be axed as current contracts run out over the coming months.
