Pain was the name of the game for fundraisers taking part in a charity waxing at the Hair Razor salon in Coningsby.
More than £3,000 was raised for charities chosen by local woman Andrea Dolby, who is currently fighting cancer.
Fiona Manning, owner of Hair Razor, agreed to the charity evening after Andrea, a friend and client of the salon, found she was undergoing treatment for cancer for the second time and wanted to help the people who were helping her.
The funds will be split between St Barnabas Hospice, Mayflower Lodge, Boston and the New Coningsby Surgery, which is looking to buy an AED Defibrillator.
Andrea’s own three sons, Lee, Carl and Ben Dolby took part in the waxing along with friends Shaun Pettigrew, John Hargreaves, Tyler Parkhouse, Alastair Robinson, Ben Hunt and Shaun Harvey. In total 16 legs and a hairy chest was waxed.
Christine Tozer, from New Coningsby Surgery, said “We are very grateful for the wonderful donation and are most impressed by all the support shown. The re-appearance of the cancer is sad but Andrea is much to be admired the way she is coping with the illness.”
