Police are warning horse and pony owners to be on the lookout for anything suspicious after an animal went missing on Monday, January 20.
A pony was discovered missing from fields at Tumby Lawn near Coningsby, off the main A153 at 8am.
The animal was discovered nearby about an hour and a half later.
The pony had been in the field at 5pm the day before.
From the information known it appears that at least one gate has been opened allowing the animal to leave the field.
The police would like to alert horse and pony owners to keep a close eye on their animals and to any suspicious activity.
The police are unable to confirm on this occasion if this was an attempt to steal the pony, or if it was just let out. Anyone witnessing suspicious behaviour around animals should contact police on 101.
