UPDATED: Community aims to save much loved village church
HOPES of St Margaret’s Church at Thimbleby being saved from permanent closure could be revived.
Villagers Andrew and Ruth Bramley have organised a meeting to review Thimbleby Village Church Council’s recommendation in May for the building’s closure.
The move came when clergy and villagers were faced with raising £200,000 for repairs to the church and the long term sustainability of the building was being held in doubt.
Mr Bramley said: “Many generations have worked hard over the years to preserve our beautiful village.
“The church exists because of generous gifts of time given and talents shared, however small or large.
“Let’s forget our differences and share our many talents to save St Margaret’s for future generations to enjoy.”
Interested parties should arrive at Thimbleby Village Hall on Tuesday, July 10, at 7pm to share views and ideas.
