An inquest at Spilsby Coroners Court ruled that a gold coin found in the Horncastle area was treasure after being found by a metal detector last year.

The coin dates between AD 397-402 in the period of joint rule by Arcadius and Honorius.

Coins aren’t usually seen at an inquest but this particular item had been modified into a pendant during the Early Medieval period.

The coin will be given to the collection at Lincoln.
