Town praised for snow plan success
Snow in Horncastle
After the recent bad weather put Horncastle’s snow plan into action, the volunteers in charge have received praise from both Lincolnshire County Council and Horncastle Town Council.
Organised by Town and County Councillor Bill Aron and Stuart Goodacre, volunteers were given the opportunity to help clear paths in the town if the snow hit - which it did in abundance.
At last week’s Horncastle Town Council meeting, Cllr Aron said: “I received an email from the Highways Officer at LCC thanking volunteers in Horncastle for their hard work.
“It was successful and it allowed other officers to get on with other gritting.
“It’s nice to be appreciated so quickly.
“LCC were very impressed.
“It’s also the first time we’ve done something like this, so from that point of view were very pleased.”
The Highways Officer said: “The assistance your volunteers have given has allowed our workforce to concentrate on the main highway network.
“Please pass on our thanks for a job really well done.”
On a Town Council level, Chairman Cllr Fiona Martin said: “I would like to thank Councillor Aron for his hard work in putting the snow plan together.
“It was greatly appreciated by the town.”
