Teen's dog business wins Prince's Trust support

Belinda Truepenny (19) from Raithby has launched her own dog walking and animal care business – Patter Paws – with backing from The Prince's Trust, which has provided her with a £750 loan, and £750 grant.

Animal lover Belinda, who holds a National Diploma in animal management, wants to concentrate her business in the Fosdyke area where she has some clients already and is hoping to move nearer to home in the future.

She also plans to provide services within a 15 miles radius of Spalding, Boston, Holbeach, and Heckington.

She intends providing dog walking on a daily and occasional basis, sitting and spending time feeding dogs, cats or small animals and caring for horses as well as mucking out, grooming, feeding, turning out and changing rugs, administering medication, pet transport, vet visits and grooming parlours.

Belinda, who holds Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizen Award with her Border Collie, also intends providing home security, watering plants and picking up mail chores. She is also considering expanding the business by having dogs stay at her house.

Start Up with the Prince’s Trust is part-funded by the European Social Fund, the European Regional Development Fund and the East Midlands Development Agency’s Single Pot Funding, with the support of emda and the Government Office East Midlands.
