Horncastle Lions and Rotary Clubs are joining forces for the fourth year in succession so that people in the Horncastle area can remember a close family member or friend who has died either recently or in the past.
In return for a donation - which will be divided between three local hospice charities - an individual light will be dedicated and lit in memory of the named person.
The names of those remembered will be published in the Horncastle News and at www.horncastletreeoflight.co.uk. They will also be displayed at the foot of the tree. All donors will receive a Christmas card in acknowledgement of their gift.
The Tree of Light is situated at the corner of East Street and South Street and provides a highly visible and distinctive addition to the townscape at Christmas time. It will be lit for the first time on Friday December 13 and will remain lit throughout the festive season.
If you wish to celebrate a loved one this Christmas then you will need to complete and return the application form on this page.
Application forms can be cut out from the Horncastle News on this page or obtained from Fletcher and Hughes at 8 High Street Horncastle and H A Stanley Electrical Suppliers at 21 High Street, Horncastle. They can also be downloaded from the website.
A minimum donation of £10 for each person added to the Tribute List is recommended although larger donations are always welcome.
For income tax payers, the value of a donation can be increased by 25% through Gift Aid, at no extra cost.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses in meeting all the project’s operating costs, every penny of every donation will go to the chosen charities.
So far, the Tree of Light has raised more than £8.000 to support hospices serving our area. Organisers this year are hoping to attract even more support with a target of over 300 sponsored lights.
All proceeds will be divided equally between The St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire UK Trust, The Louth and District Hospice and The St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice in Grimsby.
