Petwood Hotel is accustomed to hosting weddings but the Wedding Day ball proved a different affair for staff and patrons as over £2,000 was raised for Boston Pilgrim Hospital’s neo-natal Unit.
Men and women were invited by organiser Emma Farrington to relive their wedding days by dressing up in the finery they wore on their big days.
Emma said: “We raised £2,123 for the unit at the hospital.
“It’s the second time we have run it and it was really well supported.
“We had a lot of newcomers who loved wearing their old dresses - everyone had a fabulous time.”
Emma, who works on the neo-natal unit, added: “It’s nice for us because we can see where the money that has been raised will go.
“We have a wish list of things we would like to buy and the money will be spent on recreational items for the children like cots and swings.
“We want to make things easier for the parents of the children we look after and this money will go a long way in helping to do that.”
A spokesman for the hotel said: “It was a lovely to see such a novel way to raise a lot of money for such a great cause.
“Guests enjoyed getting dressed up and it was really interesting for us to see so many different styles of wedding dresses and seeing how they have changed.”
