A Royal Air Force Typhoon pilot, based at RAF Coningsby, has received an MBE in the 2014 New Year Honours.

Squadron Leader Al Allsop’s pioneering work on the use of Typhoon flight simulators has helped train students and front-line pilots.

Group Captain Johnny Stringer, Station Commander at RAF Coningsby, said: “I am delighted Al’s hard work has been recognised.”

Sqn Ldr Allsop has served at Coningsby for seven years, first on 29 Squadron and now as a Flight Commander on XI Squadron.
