With the announcement that Sir Peter Tapsell is to step down as Louth and Horncastle MP at the next General Election, speculation is already mounting about a likely successor for what is regarded as one of the safest Tory seats in the country.
Previously, political ‘heavyweights’ of the stature of Boris Johnson have been linked with the position, particularly after Sir Peter was reportedly overheard joking that he was “keeping his seat warm for Boris”.
