PHOTOS - Sun shines on Revesby Show
2.30pm, Tuesday - THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to Revesby Country Fair on Sunday to enjoy a whole host of attractions and a record number of trade stands.
The crowds were entertained with everything from wood carving demonstrations to a fine display of steam engines and gymkhana events.
Chairman of the show's new committee, John Roe, said: "We had a very, very successful day and we were fortunate the sun shone.
"Many thanks to all the team who put the show together – we're very grateful."
New for this year were the spectacular and professionally groomed Imps Motorcyle Display Team who thrilled ringside spectators with their stunts.
Elaine Hill's fantastic sheepdog display, private driving and the Derby Midshipmen Marching Band also made a lasting impression in the main ring.
A Parade of Hounds from The South Wold Foxhounds filled the ring alongside the East Lincs Basset Hounds.
Master huntsman, Nick Ashcroft of South Wold Hunt, said: "It was absolutely marvellous.
"There was a good crowd and the parade was well received – it was excellent."
Spectators gathered for the ever popular dog agility course organised by Little Chris while dog handling classes, clay pigeon shooting and archery were in full swing elsewhere.
Rob and Sue Roebuck's Stork and Cradle stall won best trade stand.
Equestrian secretary, Verity Myers, said: "It was a super day, in lovely conditions and perfect going.
"The horses and riders all enjoyed a good day out."
The East of England Poultry Club tent attracted 140 birds, including 26 juvenile entries, plus 60 plates of eggs.
Joe, a magnificent African goose owned by Mike Sumner of Moorby, was declared the poultry show champion and a tiny white Serama cockerel was the best true bantam.
Pat Barthorpe, former secretary of the Revesby Country Fair, received a picture depicting a horse racing scene from the new committee. The picture was to thank Mrs Barthorpe, and her husband Mark, the former chairman, for their 37 years of hard work which has made Revesby Country Fair the success it is today.
The day was topped off with 16 heats of terrier racing – Revesby Style.
"It was a fun conclusion to the day," said Mr Roe.
