No paws in marathon effort for charity cash

A HORNCASTLE man is preparing for his 26th marathon, this time to raise money for Labrador Rescue South East and Central.
Edward Dillamore is taking part in the Mablethorpe Marathon to raise money for a charity that both he and his wife have benefited from.
Alfie the Labrador was rescued by the trust and Edward and Patricia have had him for nearly five years.
“Training for the marathon has gone well,” Edward said.
“I’ve had two more runs of about 18 or 19 miles, and I’m now resting up for the big day.
“I’ve done a lot of runs for charity, but it will be my first on behalf of the Labrador Rescue.
“I just wanted to raise money for a charity so close to us.”
Patricia has been involved with the charity for the last decade and explained how she got involved.
“I’ve always had labradors since I was about 19,” she said.
“When I moved to Essex I lived opposite a forest.
“I thought it would be nice to have another dog to enjoy it.
“I spoke to a neighbour who had a labrador and asked where he got his from and he said Labrador Rescue, and that’s how it started.”
The money raised by the Rescue goes to help provide medicine or any treatment labradors require, or to help re-home them.
