The Right Reverend Christopher Lowson visited the school last week to officially open the new building.

It was a culmination of several years of planning and fundraising and was described by headteacher Simon Morley as a ‘momentous occasion’.

He said: “The school has never had a hall and so this was a momentous occasion in its history which was enjoyed by all of the children and staff.”

Bishop Christopher cut a ribbon to mark the beginning of a special service during which he blessed the hall and unveiled a commemorative plaque.

The guest list featured officials from the Diocese of Lincoln who funded the majority of the project.

They included Jackie Waters-Dewhurst (director of education) Bridget Starling (business manager) and Steve Pears (project manager).

Representatives from Taylor Pearson, the construction company who built the hall, and SRA Architecture, who designed the building, also attended.

During the service, the children talked about how they will use their new hall including PE lessons, lunches, daily assemblies and for events such as school discos.

They also thanked the invited guests for their part in making the hall a reality by presenting cards which they they had made themselves.

Also at the service were parents of pupils, along with residents who said a new hall was on the agenda when they first attended the school!
